Brief Job Description:


The Department of Innovation and Technology is looking for an experienced, collaborative PeopleSoft QA Analyst to join our Boston Administrative Information System (BAIS) team for the term of the BAIS Modernization Project (18 months).

 

As a member of a highly-collaborative group managing the City Financial and Human Resources technology solutions, the QA analyst will provide QA expertise to the BAIS team and end users to help ensure changes, enhancements and fixes are thoroughly assessed, tested, documented and acted upon accordingly. The QA analyst will work closely with technical staff, functional staff, project managers, and external partners across the City to ensure all phases of testing are planned, coordinated, executed and documented thoroughly, clearly and concise. This position will provide QA best practices, review and recommend testing opportunities to ensure proper testing at all phases of the system life cycle, and complete complex analytical tasks as we develop and expand our HCM and Financials enterprise solutions.

 

We are looking for an innovative individual who can provide exceptional QA, coordinate testing and review of fixes and enhancements that provide users with an experience that is highly useful.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead analysis of cross-module issues, coordination of testing with functional and developer resources, stakeholders and end users, and confirmation of business sign off for changes (fixes, transformations, enhancements or Oracle delivered patches) to the HCM and Financials solution.
  • Conduct appropriate testing activities and perform review of testing plan and results for system modifications with the goal of ensuring all integration points and downstream impacts are thoroughly considered.
  • Research, evaluate, recommend, and document modifications and enhancements to the system, as well as business process change(s). Analyze and coordinate the implementation of modifications, delivered fixes, upgrades and patches through the system life cycle. Research new images and understand what opportunities exist for the City. 
  • Work closely with functional analysts, application developers, business owners, and end users to troubleshoot and resolve functional application problems thoroughly and timely. Become familiar at the beginning of the lifecycle process to ensure appropriate testing is planned, executed and documented at every phase.
  • Review and update documentation related to application development lifecycle documents, including at a minimum functional design documents, configuration documents, user training guides, process maps, testing documents, presentations, and more.
  • Coordinate the creation and ongoing maintenance of test scripts. Work closely with functional analysts, business partners and developers to build thorough and accurate test scripts. Create a process to incorporate the use of test scripts during each phase of any application enhancement or fix.
  • Work closely with Quality Control Lead, functional analysts, project managers, business partners to building and maintaining test scripts for the creation and ongoing use of a testing automation tool
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle through recommending business process improvements or modifications to the system.
  • Provide oral and written reports and presentations clearly, concisely, and effectively.
  • Coordinate, communicate and prioritize requests from end users.
  • Continues to learn and research HCM and Financials trends, educate users and managers on functionality enhancements. Research delivered but currently unused PeopleSoft module functionality and become familiar with the functionality through hands-on testing.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least three (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time professional experience in work in which the major duties were in information systems and process analysis is required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience involving Quality Assurance (QA), system testing &/or life cycle testing
  • At least two (2) years professional experience involving the analysis and interpretation of policies related to Government HR and payroll policies is desirable.
  • At least two (2) years working knowledge of PeopleSoft HRMS and Financials application software preferred.
  • Familiarity with various software products, such as issue tracking tools, query writing tools, process mapping tools, Google Suite, Microsoft Office is highly desirable.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
