Brief Job Descrption:


Under the direction of the Executive Director for the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement the Child Care Program Manager is responsible for all of the office’s programmatic work relating to childcare, including the Childcare Entrepreneur Fund.


  • Leads all aspects of the Childcare Entrepreneur Fund, including but not limited to: outreach, scheduling and planning, applicant communication, applicant selection, workshop management, communicating with participants, coordinating with community partners, coordinating with translators and interpreters, drafting and approving workshop materials.
  • Ensures grant payments are made in a timely and accurate way, keep financial records.
  • Maintains files of grant recipients.
  • Maintains relationships with past grant recipients and track outcomes.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with childcare program partners.
  • Coordinates with Communication and Outreach manager for outreach and engagement.
  • Serves as liaison between Boston’s childcare providers and MOWA.
  • Collects and analyzes information from childcare providers, community organizations, and other childcare stakeholders to shape programming and policy.
  • Assists MOWA policy staff on childcare related matters, including attending coalition and other stakeholder meetings.
  • Convenes city childcare team meetings, draft and distribute agendas.
  • Assists other City departments in work related to childcare.
  • Works with program partners, contractors, and the City’s legal staff to draft Memoranda of Agreement relating to childcare work.
  • Coordinates program evaluation for MOWA’s childcare programs, as directed.
  • Assists in proposing and managing MOWA budget for childcare related work.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have at least four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in program management.
  • Bachelor's degree may be substituted for (2) two years of the required experience.
  • Grant administration experience preferred.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, problem-solving skills, and flexibility.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Experience with or knowledge of the childcare sector preferred.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job.



Boston Residency Required.



Union/SalaryPlan/Grade: MO-7/Non-Union
