Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Reporting to the Director of Tax Data Administration or other assigned supervisor, performs clerical, information, data management and other office functions requiring a high degree of judgment and adherence to specific regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists Director in preparation of reports and achievement of timelines as they relate to regulations and procedures concerning property ownership and other real estate information, with a primary focus on the research and resolution of Tax Title issues. 
  • Processes annual parcel inventory updates within the Assessing Department’s Real Estate Title system.
  • Conducts research, gathers information and makes recommendations.
  • Provides information to the public, other Assessing staff and other departments. 
  • Maintains data files, records, and other information sources.  
  • May prepare correspondence and reports and handle telephone, mail and over the counter inquiries. 
  • Carries out special projects, represents unit.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of fulltime, or equivalent part-time, experience in office management, office administration, business administration, or business management, including records management.
  • Appropriate educational substitutions may be accepted for this experience.
  • Thorough and extensive knowledge of laws and procedures pertaining to property ownership, the functions of the Registry of Deeds and of assessing procedures and practices preferred. 
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills preferred.
  • Mathematical and data analysis skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer operating environments and of application software preferred.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills preferred.
  • Analytic skill, including ability to innovate, to make recommendations, to handle multiple assignments, and to meet deadlines preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job.

Boston Residency Required.
