Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

The Staff Assistant I provides a supportive role in the implementation of the Age Strong-Friendly Boston action plan working to ensure that older adults in Boston can live and age well in the City.  Responsibilities include assisting in outlining of policy and program initiatives, managing new partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally, developing and coordinating outreach plans, overseeing specific projects and action items within the action plan, managing program participants and collaborators, volunteer recruitment, preparing outreach materials and conducting presentations.

Responsibilities:

Support the implementation of the Age-Friendly action plan including but not limited to:

 

  • Manages assigned initiatives which may include: creates and manages existing and new partnerships; manages program participants; outreachin; recruiting and managing volunteers; coordinating with agencies and City Departments; maintaining statistical reports, and developing informational materials.  
  • Creating and managing effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Researches best practice of programs, which may include: analyzing information; identifying issues and discrepancies; and formulating recommendations.
  • Assists the Director with conducting trainings identified in the action plan.  
  • Assists with all program special projects from start to finish.
  • Performs related work as required

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of full, or equivalent part-time experience in support of human services programs
  • Associate’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience.  Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required experience.  
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.  Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving ability.
  • Ability to be highly organized.
  • Ability to work independently; to show flexibility and adapt to changing priorities; to think creatively; and to give team feedback.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office, Social Media and Access preferred.
  • Ability to comply with document policies and procedures.
  • Experience in typical office software systems (Microsoft Office or equivalent) preferred. 
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Experience working in the aging field preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Subject to CORI check.

 

Boston residency required.
