Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
The Special Assistant provides logistic and programmatic support to each of the four teams (Admin, Climate Planning, Energy, and Historic Preservation) in the Environment Department. Sample projects include mapping and data visualization in QGIS; analyzing the intersection between historic preservation and building energy efficiency; assisting with budget preparation; analyzing state policy and its impact on Boston’s policy priorities; and maintaining the parking freeze invoicing and permit issuance.
In addition, the Special Assistant serves as the Commissioner’s scheduler and undertakes certain recurring administrative tasks, as well as completing special assignments from the Commissioner. Administratively, the Special Assistant will schedule meetings with internal and external stakeholders; compose the weekly cabinet report; draft policy memos; and coordinate off-site department meetings.
Boston residency required.
