Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
Under the direction of the Urban Wilds Program Manager or his/her designee, the Urban Wilds Foreperson supervises and participates in landscape maintenance and restoration of the Urban Wilds. Work includes routine seasonal landscape maintenance, assistance with the development and execution of landscape restoration projects, oversight of volunteer-based and youth landscape stewardship projects, and support for program outreach and education.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
Applicants must have at least three (3) years of experience in work related to general landscape maintenance in public or private service, one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Ecology, environmental science, horticulture, and/or natural resource management background is helpful.
Experience in natural areas management is helpful.
Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts Driver's License.
Must obtain a valid Hoisting License within six (6) months of the date of hire.
Must obtain Chainsaw Safety Training Certification within (12) months of the date of hire.
Must obtain a valid Herbicide Applicator License within twelve (12) months of the date of hire.
