Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Under the direction of Mechanical Equipment Repairperson Foreperson, the Junior Electrical Repair Person will perform a variety of routine electrical and maintenance tasks of a semiskilled nature to buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs handyman type duties for the Alterations and Repair Program of the Property Management Department.
  • Independently replaces a high volume of various size and type bulbs and lamps at City Hall and various City buildings.
  • Troubleshoots power outages.
  • Resets breakers as necessary.
  • Assists Mechanical Equipment Repairperson Foreperson and other Department employees in performing repairs and maintenance to facilities and equipment.
  • Accesses work order management system via smart phone, tablet, and/or desktop to receive assignments and document progress and completion of tasks
  • Monitors and manages inventory of bulbs and lamps and arrange for appropriate storage and pick up of electrical recycling. 
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Ability to take direction and implement work plan to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology including smart phones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, and work order management systems.
  • Ability to receive, complete, and close out work orders using a web-based work order management system.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate and work from ladders up to and including 20 ft.
  • Must have and maintain a current valid MA drivers license .
  • Ability to use a small scissor lift.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tools and equipment commonly used in facilities maintenance.
  • Hoisting License preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job.
