  • Overview:

     

    BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION (essential functions of the job):

     

    Under supervision, operates light and medium automotive and other motor equipment not requiring special skills.  Operates a passenger car, station wagon, half-ton pick up truck, three-quarter ton panel truck or other types of trucks having a requirement of a Class II License by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.

     

    Responsibilities:

    The operation of heavy vehicles will be required and various types of motorized grass and weed cutters.

    Loads and unloads trucks; transports people, material and equipment to and from work; performs manual labor work when not operating vehicles.

    Makes adjustments and minor repairs to motor equipment; changes tires, oil and battery.

    When not operating shall perform any duties of Public Works Laborer.

    Performs related work as required.

     

    Must work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

     

     

    Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

    Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts driver's license.

    Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and be able to focus on detail as required by the job.

     

    BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED

     

    Terms:

     

    Union/Salary Plan/Grade:  AFSCME/RA1-7L

    Hours per week:  40
