    This is a provisional appointment.

     

    Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

     

    Under the direction of the Director of Recreation Programming, performs work of considerable difficulty in developing, organizing and implementing programs related to youth sports and recreation. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Solicits and secures sponsorship and product endorsement; speaks at public forums and external presentations.
    • Assists in developing goals and objectives.
    • Assists in preparing budgets and monitors financial activity of specific programs.
    • Identifies and creates external partners, gathers information, prepares reports.
    • Negotiates contracts with sports specialist.
    • Assists in developing sports and recreational programs, special events and standards.
    • Develops marketing strategies and research related information.
    • Performs related work as required.

    Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

    • Applicant must posses at least three (3) years of supervisory experience in sports and recreational programs.
    • A B.A. in Liberal Arts may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
    • Knowledge of sports and recreation at all levels, which include; youth, NCAA, amateur, professional and challenged programs.
    • Considerable knowledge of negotiation of sponsorship and other revenue generating activities.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, public presentation and community organization skills.
    • Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job.
    • Must be wiling to work evenings and weekends as needed.

    BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.
