Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
The Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing (MOCAL) is a public agency working in conjunction with the Massachusetts’s Office of the Attorney General. This office is consisted of two divisions. The Consumer Affairs Division provides assistance to Boston consumers by educating consumers on their rights and mediating disputes between consumers and business entities. The Licensing Division regulates Boston’s entertainment and liquor industry. MOCAL is seeking one intern to aid the Consumer Affairs division.
This internship provides valuable practical experience, particularly for pre-law students or those considering law school. Some areas covered include landlord and tenant disputes, mortgages, warranties, retail sales, credit and debt collection, telemarketing, car purchases and repairs, home improvement, and etc. Orientation, training, and supervision will be provided to the intern. Experienced staff members are available for information and guidance. Extensive case files and educational materials are readily available. Intern will be evaluated on their job performance at completion of internship.
Hourly Rate: $14 hourly
Hours Week: 15 hours
Duration : 4 months
