    Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

     

    Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director for Design, the Senior Review Architect is primarily responsible for the timely and professional review of drawings, specifications, estimates, programs and studies at various stages of projects, establishing design standards and consulting on highly sensitive design projects as directed.

    Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities include:

    • Clear, effective communication and close coordination with project managers, architects, engineers, consultants, regulating agencies and users.
    • Secondary responsibilities include preparing scopes of work, monitoring design changes, participating in designer selection, helping to establish project schedules and budgets and assisting in the capital planning process.
    • The Senior Review Architect will occasionally prepare programs and studies and manage special projects that require her/his particular expertise.
    • Performs related work as required. 

    Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

    Minimum Entrance Qualifications: -

    • At least six (6) years of fulltime, or equivalent part-time, related experience as a practicing professional architect of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity. 
    • Experience with budgeting and scheduling of the design process preferred
    • Architectural registration in Massachusetts required. 
    • Ability to work with diverse clients.
    • Well developed communication skills, computer skills, analytical expertise, and excellent writing skills strongly preferred. 
    • Knowledge of and experience with design, construction, and contract practices, MA building code, general/sub-contractor relations, trade customs, MA construction statutes, MGL Ch.149 and regulations preferred.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
    • Appropriate education substitutions may be made.

     

    BOSTON RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED
