    Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):


    Under the general supervision of the Minority/Women's Business Enterprises (M/WBE) Construction Manager, promotes and increases business opportunities for minority and women owned businesses, by monitoring compliance with the City of Boston Executive Order and Ordinance governing M/WBE use on public construction projects.


    • Conducts investigations for cases of potential fraud or abuse of the program.
    • Works with various city departments to ensure compliance.
    • Attends pre-construction conferences and other meetings as required.
    • Provides technical assistance to contractors; traces and ensures verification of documentation submitted by general contractor,  prepares and forwards memo of approval to awarding authorities, prepares project chronologies for corrective action meetings with contractors.
    • Maintains data base system of monthly construction activity reports; assists M/WBE Construction Manager in preparation of various reports.
    • Works closely with compliance monitoring staff within Boston Residents Jobs Policy Program.
    • Schedules and conducts corrective action meetings with contractors; prepares written reports of corrective action meetings; makes recommendations.
    • Communicates with M/WBE Certification Manager to ensure that all M/WBEs identified are City of Boston certified or in the process of certification.
    • Forwards written request to contractors for necessary documentation to close out project files; and any other related duties.
    • Performs related work as required.

    Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

    • At least two (2) years of fulltime, or equivalent part-time, experience in administration.
    • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required experience.
    • Strong oral and written skills.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Good math skills.
    • Ability to interpret government regulations.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data.
    • Knowledge of federal regulations and city guidelines and of software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and database program use preferred.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
