Overview:

This is a temporary one year appointment (2 positions).

 

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

The Boston Retirement System seeks to maintain accurate, timely, and consistent contribution accounts for its members. To that end, a significant data quality remediation project has been undertaken. The project will require additional staff to identify, analyze, research, reconcile and resolve problems that may exist in financial databases.

Responsibilities:

Duties of additional staff includes:

  • Analyzes financial data using Excel, account sampling and related research.
  • Screens data for anomalies; identifies and interprets trends or patterns in account data.
  • Reconciles individual and groups of member accounts.
  • Evaluates options for manual and programmatic corrections to account data.
  • Develops written summaries of data analysis, reconciliations, remediation tests, potential processing improvements, etc.
  • Works closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Provides project support through tracking issues, data “cleaning” population status, test results, etc.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned by senior management.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of paid professional experience in accounting, finance, or business management.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management strongly preferred and may be substituted for the required experience. A Master’s degree in the above listed fields preferred.
  • Course work in information systems a plus.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy and to detect errors.
  • Ability to demonstrate all required skills via a pre-hire test.
  • Ability to work independently and to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work both quickly and meticulously to achieve the best balance of effort/results and meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to follow security rules and regulations regarding the protection of member data and other confidential information.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as require by the job.

Boston Residency Required

 

Terms:

 

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000

Hours per week:   35

 

This is a nonunion position.
